2011 . . . what the year holds for GDFA
Although 2011 will be our first year for improving fishing in our area, it looks like a whole lot is going to be accomplished.
We have already collected almost 200 plastic barrels for making our floating piers, and we have just received information on a source for the large square containers that displace almost 1400 pounds of water each. We have also collected all kinds of other material that can be used for creating cover, and improving spawning conditions for bass and bluegills.
We have been in contact with local state DNR staff, Five Rivers MetroParks, Montgomery County, and Greene County, and everybody looks to be on board, and excited about what we are planning to do.
We have officialy launched what will soon be a major area wide worm composting program. We are now partnering up with a local community group that already had their own program started, and is excited about joining us.
Our logo and our first flyer will be released this month, which will help make it easier to spread the word further and faster.
There are at least 35,000 people living in our two counties that fish. Can you imagine what we can accomplish if even only half of those people get connected, and help us find & gather resources, help construct piers, help find sponsors, or donate a dollar or two? I’ll tell you what will happen . . . fishing in our area will get a lot better!!!
